A Special Thanks to Orr & Reno
Due to a communications mix-up, the Bar’s public information telephone service, Lawline, was without a host location for August. Special thanks go to the attorneys at Orr & Reno—who had already hosted Lawline twice during the last year—for pitching in and agreeing to answer calls on Aug. 9, Lawline’s scheduled night.
Attorneys Justin M. Boothby, Connie Boyles Lane, Phillip Rakhunov, and Martha Van Oot answered calls, assisted by Christine Kennedy, Vivian Bentley and Chris Emerson.
Kennedy said the phones were busy and the attorneys who participated felt their time was well-spent. “At times, we were backed up with 12-14 calls,” wrote Kennedy to Lawline Coordinator Sheila Dion. “It makes you realize what a great service this is, and how many people are in need.”
Law firms with at least three incoming telephone lines can host Lawline for one evening a year. Lawline is scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month, with calls forwarded for that time period from a toll-free line. Law firms typically invite attorneys from their own firm and from other area firms to help out, serving a light dinner (the cost of which is reimbursed by the Bar Foundation) during the 6-8 p.m. call-in period.
Contact Sheila Dion at sdion@nhbar.org or at 224-6942 for information on hosting.
