The day was a winning combination of sun, camaraderie and a picture postcard course that netted the NHBA Pro Bono Program almost $17,000, thanks to the support of sponsors and golfers at the 13th annual Quid Pro Bono Golf Tourney.

Under sunny skies at the Mount Sunapee Country Club, 95 golfers—nearly 10 percent more than last year— took to the greens on Aug. 17 to participate in the tournament, which is the Pro Bono Referral Program’s single largest fundraising event. Forty-three sponsors also contributed to the day’s successful outcome. 

The Quid Pro Bono Golf Tournament’s continued financial success stems from players’ entry fees and the sponsorships of law firms, insurance companies, accounting firms and other businesses and organizations, many of whom return year after year. The money raised is earmarked to support the activities of the Pro Bono Referral Program, which links low-income clients with volunteer attorneys, in addition to providing information to hundreds of additional people and overseeing pending pro bono cases.

NHBA Associate Executive Director for Legal Services Virginia Martin coordinates the event with honorary co-chairs NH Supreme Court Associate Justice (Ret.) William Batchelder and NH Superior Court Associate Justice (Ret.) Arthur Bean, along with co-chairs Mitchell Jean and Michael Ruedig and Pro Bono staff and volunteers.

“Our sponsors and participants come together to make this tournament an ongoing success for Pro Bono,” commented Martin. “Their generosity helps fund program operations resulting in access to legal services of needy families and individuals throughout the Granite State.”
