Nashua Bar Honors Smith for Lifetime Achievement
The Nashua Bar Association presented Harrison E. Smith with its annual Lifetime Achievement Award on Nov. 16, 2006 at a dinner held at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua. During the ceremony, many colleagues, friends and family members recalled Smith’s dedication to the legal profession and to his community.
Smith’s daughter, Attorney Brenda Smith-Weiss, presented a biography of her father’s long and distinguished career, from its beginning at the law firm Hamblett, Griffith and Moran through his retirement as a member of Smith Connor and Wilder. Smith has been involved in many charitable organizations over the years, including the Community Church of Hudson, Greater Nashua Boys and Girls Club Foundation, The United Way, and Odd Fellows.
In addition to Smith and his family, notable guests attending included: the Hon. Sherman Horton, retired NH Supreme Court justice; the Hon. William Groff and Hon. Bernard Hampsey, both Hillsborough County Superior Court judges; and State Senator David Gottesman. Attorney Dave Nixon came bearing gifts from the Manchester Bar Association and contributed a story of his own.
A plaque engraved with the names of past recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award hangs at the Hillsborough County South Courthouse in Nashua.
