Nominations Sought for Judge Philip S. Hollman
Gender Equality Award
The NHBA Committee on Gender Equality of the Bar seeks nominations for the recipient of its Philip S. Hollman Equality Award. Established on the occasion of Judge Hollman’s retirement from the Superior Court Bench in 2003, the award honors Judge Hollman’s stalwart advocacy of gender equality in the legal system. An original member of the Task Force on Women in the Bar created in 1988, he has been a member of the Gender Equality Committee since its inception.
The recipient of the Hollman award should be someone who:
- is a member of the Bar, an employee of a law firm, or a court in NH, or a government department or agency that is part of the legal system;
- promotes respect and fair treatment toward all members of the judicial system;
- is dedicated to promoting gender equality and educating others about gender equality issues.
- has taken initiative in the area of gender equality and whose actions and words are emblematic of a role model in this area.
The Committee on Gender Equality will review the nominations and select the recipient, who will be presented with the award at the Gender Equality Breakfast, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at the Midyear Meeting.

Ah, Remember Law School?
Organize an Alumni Dinner at MYM
Ah, remember the good old days of law school? Wonder what that old law school classmate is up to now? Well, the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Midyear Membership Meeting presents the perfect opportunity to reunite with fellow alumni of your law school. Law schools are invited to host dinners in conjunction with the meeting, with assistance in setting up the dinners provided by Bar Association staff.
The NHBA 2007 Midyear Membership Meeting will be held Thursday, February 15 and Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at the Radisson Hotel Center of New Hampshire, Manchester, NH. Law Schools are encouraged to hold dinners on Wednesday, February 14, Thursday, Feb. 15 or Friday, Feb. 16, in conjunction with the Midyear Meeting.
If you are interested in coordinating a law school dinner for your alumni, please contact Denice DeStefano at the Bar Center, (603) 224-6942 or ddestefano@nhbar.org. Denice will assist you by providing contact information for making group dinner arrangements, a sample invitation letter and response form, and a set of alumni mailing labels from the Bar’s member database.
Know Someone Who Is Doing Something Great?
The Bar Association is looking for nominees for two important public service awards to be presented at the 2007 NHBA Midyear Membership Meeting. Nomination deadline is Dec. 22, 2006. The awards will be presented at the Midyear Meeting Honors & Awards luncheon on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007.
Vickie M. Bunnell Award for Community Service
Instituted in 1998 to honor the memory of Vickie M. Bunnell “A Country Lawyer” and to applaud the community spirit that is a hallmark of our profession.
This award is presented to an attorney from a small firm (four or fewer attorneys) who has exhibited dedication and devotion to the community by giving of his/her time and talents, legal or otherwise.
Distinguished Service to the Public Award
This award is presented to the nominee who best demonstrates service to the public on behalf of the administration of justice.

Coos Courthouse Painting for Sale by Bar Foundation
Prints of a watercolor by Sheri Vincent-Crisp of the old Coos County courthouse, painted in 1997 as a commissioned work for the new Coos County Superior Court building, will be on sale at the Midyear Meeting.
Framed prints will be on sale for $450 ($200 tax-deductible charitable contribution.)
Proceeds of the sale of the painting will go to the New Hampshire Bar Foundation’s Vickie Bunnell Memorial Fund, to support access to justice and public education about the law, particularly in the North Country, with a special focus on family violence prevention. |
