DOVE Program Honors Ted Parent

Cindee Carter, of the Pro Bono Referral Program, left, and Monadnock Center for Violence Prevention (MCVP) Executive Director Robin Christopherson congratulate Keene attorney Ted Parent on receiving the Partner in Justice Award. Parent was honored with the award for volunteering for the Domestic Violence Emergency (DOVE) Project, a program of the NH Bar Association’s Pro Bono Referral Program. DOVE provides free legal representation to low-income victims at final hearings for Domestic Violence Protective Orders. Since 2000, volunteer DOVE attorneys have provided legal assistance in over 70 cases in the Monadnock region. Currently, there are 14 DOVE attorneys linked with the MCVP. (Statewide there are over 150 DOVE lawyers). Parent has taken on some of the most challenging cases in the region and is available to the Center’s staff for legal advice. He has been taking pro bono cases for many years, but since 2000 he has taken on close to 30 cases through the Pro Bono Referral Program, including 14 DOVE referrals directly from the crisis center.
