Foundation News: New IOLTA Grant Applications Available
The revised New Hampshire Bar Foundation IOLTA (Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts) Grant application is now available. The Foundation will be accepting FY2008 IOLTA Grant applications through March 30, 2007.
New Hampshire non-profit organizations that provide civil legal services to the disadvantaged or public education programs relating to the courts and legal matters are eligible to apply. If you have not applied to this grant program in previous years, contact the Bar Foundation prior to submitting a proposal. The grant period for FY2008 is June 1, 2007-May 31, 2008. The application is available online at http://www.nhbarfoundation.org/ or via mail by calling 603-715-3253.
The New Hampshire Bar Foundation awards IOLTA funds for charitable purposes under guidelines set forth by the New Hampshire Supreme Court, Rule 50. Since 1982, the Bar Foundation has awarded more than $20 million in grants to dozens of New Hampshire non-profit organizations.
The IOLTA Program is an established partnership between New Hampshire lawyers and the banking community that supports a statewide grants program to increase access to the justice system for our most disadvantaged residents and law-related education programs for students and the public. Revenue for the statewide IOLTA Grants Program is generated through interest earned on “client funds that are nominal in amount or held for a short period of time” which would not normally generate interest.
Additional information on the IOLTA Grant Program is available on the Foundation’s Web site, http://www.nhbarfoundation.org/, or by contacting Susan Noon, program and communications director, at 603-715-3253.
