Marathoner Braves Elements, Runs for Father
Editor’s Note: We received the following letter from Attorney Sarah E. Cox, of Burns, Bryant, Cox, Rockefeller & Durkin in Dover, who is shown here and was a runner in the 111th Boston Marathon held on April 16, 2007.
Like the elite runners, we were all slowed down by the wind on Marathon Monday this year. Nevertheless, the Boston Marathon never disappoints, and it was an incredible experience to run in the race. I was very impressed with the number of fans who braved the elements to cheer on all the runners. Unfortunately, I did not see any fellow NH Bar Members along the course with the exception of my brother, Matt Cox, who surprised me at Heartbreak Hill and ran alongside me, which helped me through one of the tougher parts of the course.
I ran the 2007 marathon for another member of the NH Bar, my father, Paul Cox, who has been part of my fan contingent at mile 24 each year I’ve run the Boston Marathon. This year, he had to follow me online from home due to his current battle against lymphoma, but I know we will both be back out there in 2008!
Congratulations to all of the NH Bar members who finished this year’s marathon. And, as fellow NH Bar member Arthur Hoover once told me, “as long as you finish before they publish the results, it’s a success!”
