The NHBA Board of Governors held its initial meeting of the Association year on July 19, 2007, at Church Landing, Meredith. Much of the meeting was devoted to an orientation for new members on NHBA activities and services; the roles and responsibilities of Board members; a review of Bar events over the past year; and an update on legislative developments in the last session. Also, board members offered their views on challenges they foresee for the Association and for the profession in the near future.
As part of the meeting’s regular agenda, the Board discussed the implications of proposed changes to the Rule 170 mediation program, as proposed by the NH Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Rules. The Board agreed to ask the committee to extend its comment period from Aug. 31 to Nov. 30 to allow sufficient time for Bar members to consider the issue. (See related articles on pages 1 and 4.)
Returning members of the board were joined by all four newcomers to the board: Maria Gavin (Cheshire); David Carlson (Coos); Quentin Blaine (Grafton); and Kenneth Barnes (Merrimack).
