A Note from Retired Superior Court Chief Justice, Walter L. Murphy
“As Judge Hampsey likes to tell it, we’ve known each other since we were 18 years old when we were in college together in the late 50’s (1950’s!!). He always had a strong work ethic and an acute mind, tempered with a keen and impish sense of humor, mostly directed at himself. (It is no coincidence that he has the resemblance of a leprechaun!) His presence on the court will be sorely missed by those with whom he has worked so diligently over the years. What he will do with himself upon retirement is a matter of some speculation among his colleagues (he has no known hobbies), but I am certain it will involve his family to which he and his wife Jean are so devoted.”
