Bar News - October 5, 2007 14th Quid Pro Bono Golf Tournament Raises Almost $16,000 The day was a winning combination of sun, camaraderie and a picture postcard course that netted the NHBA Pro Bono Program over $15,000, thanks to the support of sponsors and golfers at the 14th annual Quid Pro Bono Golf Tourney on Aug. 16, 2007. Under blue skies at the Lake Sunapee Country Club, 99 golfers—up five percent over last year—took to the greens to play in the tournament, which is the Pro Bono Referral Program’s largest fundraising event. Seventy-eight sponsors also contributed to the day’s successful outcome. The Quid Pro Bono Golf Tournament raises funds from a combination of players’ entry fees and the sponsorships of law firms, insurance companies, accounting firms and other businesses and organizations, many of whom return year after year. The money is earmarked to support the activities of the Pro Bono Referral Program, which links low-income clients with volunteer attorneys, in addition to providing information to hundreds of additional people and overseeing pending pro bono cases. NHBA Associate Executive Director for Legal Services Virginia Martin coordinates the event with honorary co-chairs NH Supreme Court Associate Justice (ret.) William Batchelder and NH Superior Court Associate Justice (Ret.)
