Trust Modernization Act Committee Recruits Members To Review Proposed Legislation
The New Hampshire trusts and estates bar which reviewed the Uniform Trust Code legislation in 2004 and 2005 and the Trust Modernization and Competitiveness Act in 2006 will reconvene in December and January to consider further revisions to the legislation, including a proposal that New Hampshire adopt a statute authorizing self-settled spendthrift trusts comparable to what Delaware, Alaska and a growing number of other states have enacted. In addition to trusts and estates lawyers, members of the probate bench and New Hampshire bankers participate in the work of the committee.
Amy Kanyuk and Susan Leahy will co-chair this effort and report the committee’s views on the proposed legislation to the Legislature in early 2008. Attorneys interested in participating in this work are welcome to join the committee. Typically, participation in the work of the committee and its subcommittees is accomplished either in person, by email, or conference call. Physical presence at meetings is not required. Work will commence in early December and be completed by mid January.
Those interested in participating should respond to Susan.Leahy@McLane.com or AKanyuk@McKan.com as soon as possible.
