On February 2nd, 2008 MooreMart volunteers, including Nashua attorneys Steven Levesque and Andrew Brown, met at the Law Offices of Paul S. Moore In Nashua to pack soccer balls for U. S. troops serving in the Middle East.
MooreMart collected and shipped 315 soccer balls which exceeded the goal of 250, and brought the 2008 year-to-date total to 376 soccer balls collected and shipped to Iraq and Afghanistan.
MooreMart founders Carole Moore Biggio and Paul S. Moore, along with members of the New Hampshire National Guard, developed the soccer ball program in an effort to strengthen the community ties between the two cultures. Currently, National Guardsmen and women distribute the soccer balls to local children in Iraq and Afghanistan along with school supplies, back packs and clothing donated by citizens and civic groups throughout New Hampshire.
The Nashua Bar has been instrumental in assisting MooreMart with the development of this program and has been one of MooreMart’s main volunteers in collecting supplies and shipping care packages to U. S. troops serving in the Middle East.
Since its founding in January 2004 MooreMart has shipped over 12,000 care packages to U.S. troops serving in the Middle East.
