Bar News - January 18, 2002

NHBA Member Services: in your corner...

"NHBA Member Services: in your corner…" is a new feature of Bar News that will offer brief summaries of some of the member services and benefits provided to you as members of the NH Bar Association. We hope you enjoy this new feature and welcome any comments you have on it.

Section Dialogue Via E-Mail

Members of six of the NH Bar’s sections can currently subscribe to listservs on Yahoo! Groups for instant access to meeting notices, meeting minutes and other section news, as well as a forum for communicating with fellow section members. By the end of January 2002, we hope to have a listserv created for every section.

Each section member will be invited by e-mail or letter to join the section listserv when it is created. The invitation will offer guidance on how to go about joining. Although there is currently no plan for the listserv to replace snail-mailing of sections information, it will serve as a secure forum in which section members can discuss current issues and concerns facing them in their particular area of practice.

$100 Discount on ABA TECHSHOW Tickets

On page 11 of this issue of Bar News, you will find information regarding the ABA TECHSHOW, to be held this year in Chicago. The New Hampshire Bar Association is proud to be a program promoter and able to offer our membership a $100 discount on the registration fee for this event. For more details on TECHSHOW, please visit www.techshow.com.

Dispute With a Client or Another Lawyer?

The Bar’s Dispute Resolution Committee has a voluntary, free mediation service for Bar members attempting to resolve disputes with clients or other attorneys on fees or other matters. Contact bthomas@nhbar.org for information or visit the Bar’s Web site under For Members for information on procedures.

For more of the latest information on what the New Hampshire Bar Association is doing for you, check out "In Your Corner" in future issues of Bar News and visit the NHBA Web site often.
