Active Bar members subject to SC Rule 53 should have received their Interim Reports of CLE credit. This snapshot of their online CLE records should show all courses completed for credit. If the report is incomplete, lawyers and their assistants should follow the instructions enclosed with the reports, and first look at their online records. New attendance records are received every day, and a course may have posted after the Interim Report was printed.
Lawyers who do not have access to the internet should call Lee Jones at 603/715-3222 with questions about their reports. Those with access should first check the public NHMCLE page,
if they are unsure how to locate their online record.
Now is the time to make sure the Interim Report is correct because the next mailing in August will be the final Certificate of Compliance showing CLE status as of June 30, 2008, the end of the compliance period. Lawyers in compliance by this date will not have to deal with the extra paperwork involved in showing compliance. As long as the courses and credits listed are correct, all these lawyers need to do is check their CLE files for course attendance records for all the courses listed.
Lawyers NOT in compliance by June 30 will receive a pink Certificate of Compliance. They will have to make up the number of credits missing from compliance, attach copies of the new course attendance records, sign their Certificates and mail them to the NHMCLE Office before October 1, 2008. Missing this deadline will result in a $50 late filing fee.
Lawyers who have completed their required credits by June 30, 2008 will save themselves filing time and possible late fees.
