Bar News - July 18, 2008 Morning Mail Further Comment on Bar Dues The sidebar on "Some Comparisons on Bar Dues" [June 6 Bar News] states that NHBA dues from 1979-80 Bar year to the present "average out to be a little more than five dollars ($5.00) per year increase" and that during the same period "the Bar Association menu of services has greatly increased."I find that to be somewhat misleading since the active Bar members in 1979-80 probably numbered no more than 1,200 and that currently there are approximately 4,600 active members. Those additional 3,400 active members account for an additional $918,000 of annual dues payments. Based on that increase, I should hope that the Bar Association menu of services has greatly increased. Michael R. Feeney Editor’s note: We erred in the original article.
