James Gleason Seeks NHBA Leadership Post
HENNIKER ATTORNEY James D. Gleason, seeking election as NHBA vice president, joins the slate of candidates seeking election as officers and representatives of the NHBA Board of Governors for the 2002-2003 Bar year, which begins at the end of June 2002.
The current NHBA vice president, Russell W. Hilliard, of Upton & Hatfield in Concord, also will be on the ballot, nominated by the Board as president-elect. Under the Bar's constitution, President-Elect Martha Van Oot will succeed current NHBA President Peter E. Hutchins. Her one-year term begins after the NHBA Annual Meeting in Portsmouth June 20-22, 2002.
Ballots will be mailed March 15 to all active Bar members for Bar leadership positions, with a return deadline of April 15. The ballot includes candidates for one-year terms as president-elect, vice president, secretary and treasurer; two governor-at-large seats; and seats for county governors representing Belknap, Carroll, Strafford and Sullivan counties. Under a bylaws change approved at a membership meeting last year, this year's ballot also includes candidates for seats representing the two Superior Court districts in Hillsborough County. None of the races are contested this year. Candidates statements are published starting on page 8.
