Carol Ann Conboy |
The New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association (NHWBA) is pleased to announce that the Hon. Carol Ann Conboy has been selected to receive the 2008 Marilla M. Ricker Achievement Award. The award was presented to Judge Conboy at the NHWBA’s annual Fall Reception on Wed., Oct. 15, 2008 held at the Centennial Inn in Concord, NH from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
The award is named in honor of Marilla M. Ricker, the first woman to apply for admission to the NH bar, and recognizes outstanding women lawyers in NH who have: achieved professional excellence; or paved the way to success for other women lawyers; or advanced opportunities for women in the profession; or performed exemplary public service on behalf of women.
Judge Conboy was nominated for this award for the many achievements of her exemplary career, which began as a federal court law clerk and continued as an associate and then partner in McLane, Graf, Raulerson and Middleton, where she concentrated on employment law litigation. She is currently serving the state as a superior court justice, appointed to the bench by Gov. Judd Gregg in 1992.
Judge Conboy has broken ground for women at all stages in her career. She was an officer in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War; she currently serves as chair of the NH Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics and as chair of the NH Superior Court Sentence Review Board; she is on the Franklin Pierce Law Center Board of Trustees; and she is a member of the NH Bar Association’s Committee on Professionalism.
Generous with her time in mentoring young attorneys, Judge Conboy has provided daily inspiration to all lawyers entering her courtroom, and served as a role model to women lawyers in particular.
