Cecie Hartigan, the executive director of the NH Lawyers Assistance Program, has prepared the first annual report of the organization. The report contains a summary of activities during NHLAP’s first year and several charts with statistics of interest.
The New Hampshire Lawyers Assistance Program (NHLAP) is a confidential, independent organization created for the sole purpose of providing confidential, immediate and continuing assistance to New Hampshire attorneys, judges and law students who are suffering from physical or psychological illness, substance abuse or emotional distress, age-related issues, or other personal or professional crisis.
According to the report:
· 55 percent of the clients presented for problems related to alcohol; · 22 percent for depression.
In addition:
· 32 percent of clients seeking help came from solo practices; · 25 percent from firms of five or fewer members.
