A note from the Elder Law listserv
Some of the anticipated changes in the Medicaid application process may incorporate recommendations made in a recent report from the NH Office of Legislative Budget Assistant (LBA) regarding the Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services’ (BEAS) Long Term Care Medicaid Application Process.
The July 2009 report highlights a number of problems with the current system, including delays in processing Medicaid applications. The LBA also cited BEAS for only requiring one year of financial documents at the Medicaid appointment and recommended that the Division of Family Assistance (DFA) require applicants to produce 36 months of financial records and phase in a policy for a 60-month review.
The full report is available at the LBA website.
