Ellen Musinsky to Receive Marilla M. Ricker Award
Ellen Musinsky | The New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association (NHWBA) has chosen Ellen J. Musinsky to receive the 2009 Marilla M. Ricker Achievement Award, to be presented at the NHWBA’s annual fall reception on Thursday, October 22 at the Centennial Inn in Concord.
Named in honor of Marilla M. Ricker, the first woman to apply for admission to the NH bar, the award honors outstanding women lawyers in New Hampshire who have: achieved professional excellence; paved the way to success for other women lawyers; advanced opportunities for women in the profession; performed exemplary public service on behalf of women.
Ellen Musinsky was selected because she stands out as a woman who has spent her entire career helping other attorneys through teaching, mentoring and advocating on their behalf. She joined the staff at Franklin Pierce Law Center over 20 years ago and has worked to develop the clinical programs that teach students how to be competent, as well as compassionate, attorneys. She also supervises students in externships.
One of the founders of the NH Women’s Lobby and the NH Citizen’s Alliance for Gay and Lesbian Rights, Musinsky has also served as chair of the NH Coalition against Domestic and Sexual Violence and on the board of the NH Civil Liberties Union.
The NHWBA is a statewide association founded to promote and support the advancement and interests of women in the legal community. All attorneys are welcome at meetings. For more information, contact Kristin Mendoza at kmendoza@devinemillimet.com.
