NHMCLE News: Clarifying Your NHMCLE Records
By: Lee Jones
The 2009 Certificates of Compliance showing all CLE credits completed between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009 have been mailed. Lawyers who have not received their CLE reports should contact Lee Jones at the NH Bar Association NHMCLE office. Call 603-715-3222 or e-mail questions to mcle@nhbar.org. Those receiving PINK certificates have until the end of September to complete their credits and respond as instructed on the reverse side of their certificates.
Lawyers who find that their certificates do not list courses completed BEFORE June 30, 2009 will have to follow the same instructions as those who have not yet completed their credits; they will have to make copies of their course attendance records and submit them with the rest of their new course records. Those who received WHITE certificates should send copies of their certificates to NHMCLE with copies of their missing course records. Both groups will also have to contact the Annual Sponsors of these courses to request that their attendance be reported independently to NHMCLE.
If missing courses were presented by individual sponsors who did not seek CLE approval in NH, then the lawyers who take these courses have to seek approval on their own. In the future, application should be made within 30 days of course completion. These lawyers should submit applications with their completed PINK certificates. The list of Annual Sponsors and the attorney credit application form are on the web page, www.nhbar.org/nhmcle.
The certificate is a printed copy of the courses currently in a lawyer’s online record. If courses completed BEFORE June 30, 2009 are missing, lawyers have not acted on their CLE accreditation within 30 days of completing a course, as required in SC Rule 53. Lawyers or their assistants should review their online records regularly to make sure that annual sponsors are reporting their attendance correctly.
