Jefferson’s Dream ~ The Ballad of the Declaration of Independence


John Perrault
Portsmouth attorney and poet John Perrault has created an unusual tribute to the Declaration of Independence.

Jefferson’s Dream, released by Hobblebush Books, a NH-based poetry publisher, is an integrated arts approach to history and ideas, presenting stories about the founding document and eight great Americans through photos, text, lyrics music and songs.

Perrault, who practices with the law firm of Ahlgren Perrault & Pudloski and was admitted to the NH Bar in 1979,is a balladeer, teacher as well as a poet.


Jefferson’s Dream tells the stories of eight great Americans: Thomas Jefferson, Harriet Tubman, Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Henry David Thoreau, Ida B. Wells, and Eleanor Roosevelt, revealing the connections between the Declaration’s and the American Revolution, abolitionism, women’s rights, the Civil War, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

John Perrault is the author of two poetry collections: The Ballad of Louis Wagner and other New England Stories in Verse (Peter Randall Publisher), and Here Comes The Old Man Now (Oyster River Press).
