Law Related Education: Two Great Opportunities To Teach
There is still time to sign up for Law Day, also known as ALIES (a Lawyer and Judge in Every School), which takes place Friday, May 7. On Law Day, the courts allow continuances on behalf of those lawyers and judges who visit classrooms around the state to talk with students about how the law works.
A very popular program with all class levels, from grade school through high school, Law Day presents Bar members with a unique opportunity to give back to the community.
On Friday, May 14, the Project Citizen State Showcase will be held at the Legislative Office Building in Concord. Middle school students from around the state present portfolios (posters and written materials) at a simulated legislative hearing, supporting projects they have chosen. They try to get laws changed or initiatives adopted. Bar members are needed to act as judges to examine and evaluate portfolios.
If you are interested in participating in either of these events, please contact LRE Coordinator Robin E. Knippers or call her at 603-715-3259.
