Bar News - June 18, 2010 Legislature Cuts & Adds Expenses The Legislature on June 10 approved measures to close a $295 million budget gap that included an additional $1 million cut in the judicial branch budget. The measure also requires the judicial branch to absorb $1.2 million in added costs to fund a previously-agreed increase in per-diem payments for court security officers and sheriff’s officers. The Chief Justice last week also sent a letter to Gov. Lynch requesting that he defer all judicial appointments for the current fiscal year to provide budget flexibility for the courts.
