In Memoriam: Dorothy Roy Sullivan
Dorothy Sullivan died recently at her home in Nashua at the age of 89.
Born and raised in Nashua, she attended Nashua public schools and graduated from Nashua High School in 1938.
After high school, she attended the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School of Boston and later attended the University of New Hampshire, graduating in 1942. During World War II, she lived in Washington, DC, where she worked in the War Department. She then moved to Boston to work with the city’s Chamber of Commerce.
Upon leaving the Boston Chamber of Commerce, Sullivan taught high school in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, during which time she attended the Portia Law School – now known as the New England School of Law – where she earned her law degree. She was admitted to the NH Bar in 1973.
Retiring in 1990, she moved to Florida, where she lived until 2008 when she moved back to New Hampshire.
She is survived by two stepdaughters, Margaret and Rachel; and a stepson, James.
In memory of our colleague Dorothy Roy Sullivan, the NH Bar Association Board of Governors has made a donation to the NH Bar Foundation, 2 Pillsbury Street, Suite 300, Concord, NH 03301.
