NHBA Insurance Agency Hires Representative
MEMBERS WITH QUESTIONS regarding professional liability insurance now have a resource to turn to at the Bar Center to answer their questions and assist them in finding appropriate insurance coverage.
Suzanne Morand, AAI, CIC, who has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, has been hired as a senior account executive for the NHBA Insurance Agency, a subsidiary corporation recently established by the NH Bar Association to exclusively serve the insurance needs of NH Bar members.
Morand, a resident of Manchester, is an experienced insurance agency and account manager, and previously was vice-president of Commercial Lines for USI New England. The Bar has also contracted with Peter Milnes and INEX Capital & Growth Advisors for professional management services, consulting and oversight of the agency. Milnes brings with him many years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry in New Hampshire.
"We are excited to bring together Sue's background of industry knowledge and client service, and Peter's experience fostering strong insurance agency infrastructure, to create an exclusive resource for New Hampshire Bar members," said Jeannine L. McCoy, NHBA executive director. "This expertise will be especially valuable to members at a time when the market is making insurance decisions even more challenging."
"These efforts are a continuation of the focus we are putting on the NHBA as an important provider of high-quality member services," McCoy said. "The NHBA Insurance Agency, Inc., will compete for members' business as would any other insurance agency, and we are committed to making it the provider of choice for members."
"The NHBA Insurance Agency can compare member insurance needs against a wide carrier universe, evaluate the difference in contract provisions and costs, and advise members of the choices available," said Milnes.
Bar members are encouraged to contact Morand at 224-6942 or at smorand@nhbar.org to discuss their insurance needs.
The Bar's current endorsement agreement with American National Lawyers Insurance Reciprocal (ANLIR) expires on July 1, 2002 and, as provided in the 1997 endorsement agreement, ANLIR will no longer be providing coverage in New Hampshire.
ANLIR's financial strength rating was downgraded this spring from A-plus to B-minus by the A.M. Best insurance rating service, due in part to the performance of subsidiaries that provided insurance to hospitals.
Milnes said that ANLIR policyholders should consult with the NHBA Insurance Agency prior to purchasing tail coverage to determine how to best protect themselves from exposure to tail claims when moving from the ANLIR claims-made policy.
The Bar initially endorsed ANLIR five years ago based on a recommendation from the Bar's Group Insurance Committee. "The relationship had served the membership very well in the past, but the time has come for the Bar and ANLIR to end the endorsement relationship," said McCoy. ANLIR officials have told the Bar that all insureds will be receiving non-renewal letters 60 days in advance of their renewal date.
