In Memoriam: Charles Eggert
 Charles Eggert | Charles Eggert died recently at his home in Nebraska at the age of 89.
Eggert attended Aurora High School in Aurora, Nebraska, and later attended the University of Nebraska on a Regent’s Scholarship.
He left school to become a civilian instructor pilot in the Army Air Corps and in 1944 began a career with United Airlines, at first in a small DC-3 and later as captain of a Boeing 747. While working as a pilot, he attended Columbia University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to earn his law degree from Columbia in 1974.
Eggert was a solo practitioner in Francestown and served on the town’s planning board. He retired in 2002 and moved to his boyhood home in Nebraska.
He was an avid designer and builder, completing his own homes.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl, Linda, Charles and Larry; grandchildren, Susan, Kim, Kristen and David; four great-grandchildren, TJ, Parker, Abigail, and Margaret; and by his former wife, Elizabeth.
