Business NH Names Middleton Business Leader of the Year
JACK B. MIDDLETON, president of the law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, is being honored as the 2002 Business Leader of the Year by Business NH Magazine and the New Hampshire Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE).
In addition to leading one of the state's largest law firms, Middleton has served in leadership positions on state and national professional organizations and non-profit boards, including the NH Bar Foundation. He is currently serving a three-year term as Secretary of the American Bar Association. Thanks to his efforts, NH became the second state in the nation to establish an operational Interest on Lawyers' Trust Accounts program to fund civil legal assistance for the needy and public education about the law.
Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of NH, based in Manchester, is among the Businesses of the Year also honored in the May Business NH Magazine. CASA has been named the education/non-profit Business of the Year.
A screening committee chooses semi-finalists for the Business Leader and Business of the Year, with the final selections made by the Panel of Excellence, which is composed of winners from last year's competition. This year's panel included: Kevin M. Fitzgerald, a partner in the law firm of Nixon Peabody; J. Michael Hickey, president of Verizon-NH and winner of the Business Leader of the Year 2001; Hayden McLaughlin, president and owner of Belknap Landscape Company, Inc.; Thomas Raffio, CEO of Northeast Delta Dental; and Alex Ray, owner of the Common Man Family of Restaurants.
Middleton will receive his Business Leader of the Year Award at the 12th annual Business and Business Leader of the Year awards luncheon on May 21 at the Center of NH/Holiday Inn in Manchester. For tickets to the luncheon, which benefits ACCE, or for more information about the competition or a copy of the May Business NH Magazine, contact the magazine at 626-6354.
