New Members Find Jobs Hard to Come By
On Nov. 9, 2010, the NH Bar admitted 105 new members, all of whom had passed the NH Bar exam. The group, composed of 49 women and 56 men, represent many states. Nearly half of the new admittees are not presently employed in a legal position.
Thirty-seven of the new members are employed with law firms; six have become law clerks and four are public defenders. Two are working in government positions or are county attorneys; one is with the JAG Corps; one is with the Mass. District Attorney’s office; five are employed by private concerns. Most noteworthy, however, is that 44 are not currently practicing.
The home states of these new members are: New Hampshire, 58; Massachusetts, 31; Vermont, 5; two each are from New Jersey and Connecticut and one each from California, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio and the District of Columbia.
