In Memoriam: Peter F. Kearns

Peter F. Kearns
Peter Kearns, a Greenland attorney and active NH Pro Bono volunteer, died recently at the age of 67.

Kearns was a graduate of Bishop Brady High School, where he excelled as a student athlete, setting the state record for most points scored in a single basketball game – a record that lasted for nearly 30 years.

He went on to attend Brown University, majoring in English and playing on the school’s basketball team. Following graduation, he attended Duke University Law School, graduating in 1968.

Following his admission to the NH Bar Association, Kearns practiced at several law firms during his 40-year career, including Kearns & Colliander and Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green.

Kearns was also a member of the NH Supreme Court Professional Conduct Committee, on which he served from 1989 to 1998. From 1992-1998, he served as chair of the committee.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Helen; daughters, Kristin and Elizabeth; and grandchildren, Leo, Anna, Sarah, and Tucker.

In honor of our colleague, Peter F. Kearns, the NH Bar Association Board of Governors has made a donation to the NH Bar Foundation, 2 Pillsbury Street, Suite 300, Concord, NH 03301.
