Pro Bono Board Appointments Approved
At its March 17, 2011, meeting, the NHBA Board of Governors reappointed Beth Davis, of Hamblett & Kerrigan in Nashua, and Jeremy Walker, of the McLane law firm in Manchester, to two-year terms on the Pro Bono Governing Board. Also appointed for her first term on the board is Heather Tacconi, an attorney at the Law Offices of Stephen C. Brown in Rochester.
Most of the Board meeting involved discussion of items pending in the legislature. Nina Gardner, executive director of the NH Judicial Council, discussed the elimination of funding for guardians ad litem and marital mediation funding for indigents, and the state appropriation for NH Legal Assistance. (See article on GAL funding.)
Also discussed was pending legislation reviewed by the Legislation Committee and the ongoing impeachment investigation by the NH House of Master Philip Cross and potentially other judicial officers. (See article in March issue of Bar News of testimony by Judge Edwin Kelly. Also, see Legislation Committee chart of bills of interest to the legal profession.)
