Attorneys Snow Miner Honored At Merrimack County Bar Meeting
THE MERRIMACK COUNTY Bar Association has named Concord attorney Ronald L. Snow, of the Orr & Reno law firm, its Lawyer of the Year. Snow was honored at the group's May 22 meeting along with attorney Edgar Miner, of Bow, who was recognized for his extensive Pro Bono work
Merrimack County Bar President Tom Barry said: "The adage that 'If you want work well done, select a busy person' personifies Ron Snow. Despite the grueling demands of a very active trial practice, Ron has given freely of his time to the Public Defender Program, Family Services of New Hampshire, the YMCA, mediation in federal and state courts, drug abuse programs, the State Ballot Law Commission and training young lawyers in civil trial practice. "
Snow last year spearheaded the effort to raise funds to install a state-of-the-art electronic evidence presentation system in the Merrimack County Superior Court building on North Main Street. More than $45,000 has been raised through the county bar association and contributions from area law firms to equip the courtroom with technology that allows visual or textual information stored in a computer to be displayed on monitors visible to jurors, the judge, lawyers and spectators.
Lawyers and court officials say the installation, which occurred earlier this spring, speeds the progress of trials, improves the presentation of evidence, and increases the attentiveness and comprehension of jurors.
The system was donated to Merrimack County Superior Court and is available for use by all litigants. Barry said Snow not only helped raised funds for the system, he even pitched in during installation, unpacking boxes, wielding a power drill and helping to lay cable in the courtroom.
Miner was awarded the New Hampshire Bar Association's Pro Bono service award for Merrimack County. Miner, a retired attorney, regularly volunteers at the Bar Association Pro Bono offices, where he provides advice to Pro Bono clients who have not yet been assigned an attorney, and has taken more than 21 cases personally.
Also at the meeting, Merrimack County Bar officers were elected for the year. Michael Gfroerer was elected Bar president, succeeding Thomas Barry; Michael Brown was elected vice president; Frank Kenison will assume the role of secretary/treasurer; and C. Kevin Leonard and Marie McPartlin were elected to the Executive Committee. Merrimack County Bar officers serve two-year terms.
