Martha Copithorne to Reduce Schedule
Martha Copithorne to Reduce Schedule

MARITAL MASTER MARTHA Copithorne, 62, will be cutting her time hearing marital cases in the Superior Court in half starting July 1.

Copithorne said she wants to spend more time with family and ease into retirement. Copithorne said the initial arrangement will be that she will continue to hear cases every other week in Belknap County, but will be withdrawing, once existing cases are completed, from her sessions in Carroll County.

"I do love the work, but it is incredibly consuming of emotions and energy," she said. "I have grandchildren and there are other things I’d like to do."

Copithorne was named a marital master in 1991. A 1979 graduate of Franklin Pierce Law Center, she practiced in Laconia with her husband, the late David M. Copithorne. She served on the NHBA Board of Governors and was active in the local bar and a number of community organizations before her appointment to the bench.
