2012 Midyear Meeting Awards Presented
Distinguished Service to the Public Award Roland Morneau, retired attorney, formerly of Germaine & Blaszka, Derry, was presented with the Distinguished Service to the Public Award. This award is presented to the nominee who best exhibits service to the public on behalf of the administration of justice.
Vickie M. Bunnell Award for Community Service James Noucas, Noucas Law Office, Portsmouth, is the 2012 winner of the Vickie M. Bunnell Award for Community Service. Instituted in 1998 to honor the memory of Vickie M. Bunnell "A Country Lawyer" and to applaud the community spirit that is a hallmark of our profession this award is presented to an attorney from a small firm (four or fewer attorneys) who has exhibited dedication and devotion to community by giving of their time and talents, legal or otherwise.
Outstanding Service in Public Sector/Public Interest Law Award Barbara Keshen of the NH Civil Liberties Union received the 2012 Outstanding Service in Public Sector/Public Interest Law Award for outstanding commitment and legal contribution to the public as a public sector or public interest lawyer.
Hollman Award for Gender Equality NH Supreme Court Associate Justice Gary Hicks was the recipient of the 2012 Philip S. Hollman Award, presented at the Gender Equality Breakfast at the Midyear Meeting on March 7. The award, established on the occasion of Judge Hollman’s retirement from the Superior Court bench in 2003, honors Judge Hollman’s efforts as a stalwart advocate for gender equality in the legal system.
"Justice Hicks has been a leader among leaders, like the man for whom this award is named. He is our partner in creating gender equality," said one nomination. "We should recognize his contributions to this ongoing effort to balance the scales of justice for lawyers regardless of their gender."
