Board Approves Resolution of Thanks
At its June 22, 2012 meeting held at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, the NHBA Board of Governors provided special recognition to two Bar members who assisted NHBA President Jennifer Parent in making contact with legislators on key bills.
The Board ratified a proclamation thanking attorneys William Ardinger and Gordon MacDonald for their assistance in meeting with NH Senate leaders to help explain the Bar Association’s opposition to two bills, HB1395 and HB1474. These bills both of which passed the NH House but failed to pass the Senate, sought, respectively, to remove the requirement for attorneys to participate in the IOLTA program and challenged the requirement that licensed attorneys be members of the NH Bar Association.
The Board briefly discussed some options for increased legislative outreach at the start of the new session of the legislature in early 2013.
In other actions, the Board voted to appoint Daniel Botsford, MD, to the Judicial Conduct Committee Alternate Panel, as a layperson appointee by the NHBA.
The Board received an update on the status of the 2012-2013 NHBA budget. Details on the budget will be published in the August issue of the Bar News.
