Harwood Named Bankruptcy Judge
Bruce A. Harwood | The US 1st Circuit Court of Appeals has selected attorney Bruce A. Harwood to fill the upcoming vacancy in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Hampshire.
Judge J. Michael Deasy has announced his retirement as the state’s only bankruptcy court judge. Harwood will be appointed to the bankruptcy bench in early 2013, pending FBI clearance.
Harwood, a director and shareholder in the Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green law firm in Manchester, practices primarily in the areas of bankruptcy and insolvency work. Chief Judge Sandra Lynch said Harwood has a wealth of experience handling all manner of bankruptcy and liquidation issues.
Harwood has been a NHBA Pro Bono volunteer in bankrutpcy matters. He is an elected Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy and is a director of the American Bankruptcy Institute. Harwood also has authored numerous publications in the field.
Chief Judge Lynch thanked the Bankruptcy Merit Selection Panel, chaired by Circuit Judge Jeffrey R. Howard, and including Chief District Judge Joseph Laplante, attorneys Eleanor Wm. Dahar, Daniel W. Sklar, Peter Tamposi, and Gary Wente, 1st Circuit Executive.
