County Attorney Races Decided
Patricia LaFrance |
After what was, in some cases, a heated campaign season, the county attorney position will change hands in three NH counties: Hillsborough, Carroll and Coos.
In Hillsborough County, Patricia LaFrance, running as a Democrat, ousted first-term incumbent Dennis Hogan of Nashua, winning a two-year term as county attorney. She currently is an assistant county attorney.
In Carroll County, Robin Gordon is returning to office, after prevailing in her rivalry against Assistant County Attorney Stephen Murray. Gordon previously served as county attorney from 1999 to 2010.
Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams won reelection, defeating Joe Plaia, of Portsmouth. Reams has been in the office since 1998.
Assistant Coos County Attorney John McCormick prevailed over Phillip Beiner in a race to succeed County Attorney Robert Mekeel, who resigned last month. McCormick serves on the NHBA Board of Governors as Coos County Governor.
Reelected after uncontested races were:
Belknap: Melissa C. Guldbrandsen
Cheshire: Peter W. Heed
Grafton: Lara J. Saffo
Merrimack: Scott Murray
Strafford: Thomas Velardi
Sullivan: Marc Hathaway
