Judge Bean Donates Rare Clock to Court
(l-r) Senior Associates Justice Gary Hicks; Associate Justice Carol Ann Conboy; Judge Bean; Chief Justice Linda Stewart Dalianis; and Associate Justices Robert Lynn and James Bassett. | The NH Supreme Court and members of the Supreme Court Society gathered with retired Superior Court Judge Arthur Bean in October to mark the restoration of a 225-year old tall clock donated to the court by the Bean family. The clock, which was owned by Judge Bean’s father, was built by Jacob Jones of Pittsfield in 1787 and it is believed to be one of only 15 clocks built by Jones that are known to exist today. Restoration, by clockmaker Stephen Sanborn of Sunapee, was funded by the Supreme Court Society.
