Patti Blanchette to Serve Second Term on IOLTA Grants Committee
Patti Blanchette to Serve Second Term on IOLTA Grants Committee
PATTI BLANCHETTE is the sole nominee for one vacancy on the IOLTA Grants Committee for the 2003 fiscal year. The NH Bar Foundation’s bylaws state that in the event of an uncontested election, the Foundation’s board of directors can bypass balloting. The board, therefore, reappointed Blanchette to the Grants Committee, term of office effective immediately.
Blanchette is a divorce attorney with a solo practice in Portsmouth. She earned her law degree from Franklin Pierce Law Center and was admitted to the NH Bar in 1981. She practiced at the Portsmouth law firm Boynton, Waldron, Doleac, Woodman & Scott in Portsmouth for 20 years before opening her own law office.
Blanchette became the first woman president of the NH Bar in 1992, after having served on the Board of Governors as Rockingham County governor, vice president, and then president-elect. She was also elected president of the New England Bar. She has served on numerous Bar committees and in sections; she is currently a member of the Family Law Section. Blanchette has also served on the NH Supreme Court’s Professional Conduct Committee, the state Judicial Council and on the board of directors of both the Bar Foundation and New Hampshire Legal Assistance.
Prior to going into the legal profession, Blanchette served for 15 years in the NH Legislature and was a member of state legislative committees.
Blanchette’s candidate’s statement is as follows:
"I have enjoyed serving as a member of the IOLTA Grants Committee and would very much like to be elected to a second term. Serving on the committee is an opportunity to observe first-hand the generosity of the members of our Association who contribute to the IOLTA program. The committee’s work is also challenging as the members are faced with having to allocate limited dollars among many worthy requests for funding of legal services and legal education programs.
I thank the members who elected me to the committee, and I hope that you will do so again."
