Plymouth District Court Employee Named Latest 'Spirit' Winner
Plymouth District Court Employee Named Latest Spirit Winner

THE NH SUPREME Court has named Patricia M. Paquette, who is the bookkeeper for Plymouth District Court, the latest recipient of the Spirit of the Judiciary Award. Paquette received the award during a ceremony on June 27 at Plymouth District Court. NH District Court Administrative Judge Edwin W. Kelly joined Supreme Court Chief Justice Brock in presenting the award.

The Spirit of the Judiciary Award was established by Chief Justice Brock almost two years ago to recognize outstanding service by judicial branch employees. Nominations are made throughout the year from six regions around the state and the recipient is selected by a committee of staff members from the Administrative Office of the Courts and the Supreme, superior, district and probate courts.

Paquette began working at the Plymouth District Court in 1990. In nominating her for the award, Court Clerk John R. McKinnon cited Paquette’s reputation for "unmatched accuracy." He said that beyond her accounting skills, "Patty often helps members of the public and is always professional and courteous and at ease even under difficult circumstances."

"Patty is very familiar with, and well liked by, all the regular customers – judges, attorneys and defendants alike. This award would be most appropriate as a modest display of our appreciation for having such an excellent staff team member," McKinnon said.

Paquette, this year’s recipient from Coos and Grafton Counties, is the third winner of the Spirit of the Judiciary Award from Plymouth District Court. The previous recipients from the courthouse staff are Marie Jacobs, who oversees the criminal division (2000), and Court Security Officer Bernard Hughes (2001).

"I’m proud to be the third person here in Plymouth to receive the award," Paquette said. She described Plymouth District Court as a "family-oriented work environment where co-workers are quick to pitch in to c help each other out."

"We’re friends and we are very supportive of one another," she added.

McKinnon said Paquette, who has two young children, successfully manages the demands of home and work while maintaining an "outstanding" attendance record.

"I don’t think I am any different than anybody else who has been working in the court system and has children," Paquette responded. She said she has benefited from the support of "understanding" supervisors and co-workers at her job.
