A Chance to Meet Russian Judges
A Chance to Meet Russian Judges
THE NH COUNCIL on World Affairs is holding a luncheon at noon on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Common Man restaurant in Concord featuring eight Russian judges visiting New Hampshire from the oblast (province) of Vologda.
The judges, representing different levels of courts in Russia, will be spending a week in New Hampshire as part of a federally funded Library of Congress program in which they visit government and legal institutions. Vologda is participating in a "Rule of Law" collaboration with the legal community of New Hampshire that is being overseen by the New Hampshire Supreme Court.
Speakers at the luncheon will include Richard Hesse, a professor at the Franklin Pierce Law Center and a past visitor to Vologda, and Elizabeth L. Hodges, deputy general counsel to the NH Supreme Court and coordinator of the judges' visit.
The judges, with their interpreters, will be taking questions from the audience.
The lunch is $15 each for council members and $20 for non-members. Reservations can be made no later than Sept. 9 by calling the council at 230-9666 or by sending a check payable to NHCWA, 35 Pleasant St., Concord, NH 03301.
