Hinnendael Named CLE Director; CLE Department Profiled
JOANNE HINNENDAEL, A familiar face to NHBA CLE attendees and to many others in the legal community through her previous stints with the NH Public Defender's Office and Franklin Pierce Law Center, has been named director of Continuing Legal Education for the New Hampshire Bar Association.
Hinnendael joined the NHBA CLE Department in August 1999. For the past year and a half, Hinnendael has worked with CLE Committee members as they developed programs, has compiled CLE materials, and has managed on-site registration and coordinated with facilities for various programs.
"Jo's background in the NH legal community and her experience with running training programs for the NH Public Defender made her a natural for our CLE department," said NHBA Executive Director Jeannine McCoy.
"She has grown professionally during her tenure here, successfully juggling many programs and many agendas with imagination, energy and dedication. NHBA CLE is one of the Bar's most visible member benefits. With Jo's leadership, it has continued to provide varied, high-quality programming at below-market fees to our members. Jo epitomizes the dedication to member service that all of us at the Bar strive to meet."
As CLE Director, Hinnendael is now the primary liaison for the CLE Committee, and she is overseeing the overall budgeting and direction for the Bar's popular CLE programs. Recently, she helped negotiate with LegalSpan, an online CLE provider that soon will be offering NHBA CLE programs online to members through a link on the Bar's Web site. The LegalSpan partnership will enable Bar members to obtain their NHMCLE credits by viewing NHBA CLE programs or those offered by other CLE providers online at modest cost. The Bar will share in the revenue received from all programs accessed through the Bar's Web site. (This agreement has been only recently signed. More on this promising member benefit in an upcoming issue.)
Hinnendael, a Warner resident, is married and has two grown daughters. She has been involved in numerous community organizations for many years.
Hinnendael welcomes feedback from Bar members about current programming or new programming ideas. Contact her at jhinnendael@nhbar.org.
The following are the other members of the NHBA CLE team.
Registrar - Cheryl Moore. Typically, the first contact for members signing up for a CLE program is Cheryl Moore, who has worked for the Bar for the past 15 years, efficiently processing thousands of registrations that pour in via fax and e-mail. She also handles with aplomb the myriad special requests and adjustments to registrations and fees members make. In her spare time, Moore, the mother of twin boys, also works with her husband's family running the Sunnyside Maples maple sugaring supply store and seasonal restaurant in Canterbury.
CLE Program Assistant - Tysha Johnson. Johnson is well known to NHBA CLE attendees, as she oversees the registration desk and on-site operations at most of the Bar's CLE programs, handling facility snags, member questions, and faculty needs with good humor and common sense. Johnson, the mother of a three-year-old daughter, was recently married. A graduate of the Second Start office training program, she began at the Bar as a temporary employee and has worked for the Bar for just over a year.
CLE Support Staff - Trisha Coplan. Coplan joined the Bar Association staff this fall after working as a secretary for the sales department of a manufacturing facility in Penacook and also in various retail sales positions. Coplan assists with on-site registration, works with Cheryl Moore in processing advance registrations, and recently began overseeing the satellite CLE programs held at the Bar Association.
