FPLC's Public Interest Auction Set for March 28 in Concord

Fundraiser for Internships

FRANKLIN PIERCE LAW Center’s 11th Annual Public Interest Coalition (PIC) Auction will be held on Friday, March 28, 2003, at the Concord Courtyard Marriott.

Pre-viewing and a silent auction will begin at 5 p.m. with the live auction action starting at 7 p.m. Again this year, music will be provided by the Hopkinton High School Jazz Band.

All auction proceeds fund Pierce Law student Public Interest Fellowships. Last year’s event, the biggest ever, generated more than $37,000 to fund the work of 14 law students in unpaid positions with public interest organizations.

The law students selected as PIC Fellows work with nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies serving the legal needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged clients, both locally and nationally. See an article by Suzanne Ketteridge, a recipient of a 2002 PIC Fellowship, on page 5.

"The auction provides an opportunity to show tomorrow’s lawyers that the NH Bar supports their pro bono and public interest law efforts," said Brigette Siff Holmes, auction advisor and director of Pierce Law’s Social Justice Institute.

NHBA President-Elect Russell Hilliard will serve as this year’s honorary auction chair. Law students Heather Logan ’04, Mia Poliquin ’04 and Emilie Roth ’04 head the PIC Auction committee this year.

Tickets for the event are $10 apiece and can be reserved now, or purchased at the door on the night of the auction. Groups may also reserve tables for the auction. Auction donations are welcome. For more information, to reserve a table or tickets, or to make a donation, contact Brigette Siff Holmes at 228-1963 ext. 1166, or go to the auction Web site at www.piercelaw.edu/PIC/PIChome.htm.
