NHBA Partners with LegalSpan to Provide Online CLE
THE NH BAR Association and LegalSpan, Inc. have joined forces to provide quality online continuing legal education to NHBA members. The two recently announced their partnership, but have not yet finalized a rollout date for NHBA online CLE.
The offering is the latest member service developed by the NHBA to better serve its membership. The NHBA Casemaker Web library and establishment of the NHBA Insurance Agency, Inc. are two other recent additions to the menu of member services offered by the Bar.
Once available, online courses through the NH Bar Web site will be pre-approved for credit by the New Hampshire Minimum Continuing Legal Education Board.
LegalSpan provides online CLE for more than 20 state bar associations. "LegalSpan provides a seamless and fully integrated online CLE catalog that enables associations in the legal, accounting and banking professions to provide the highest quality educational content on the Internet," according to the company’s Web site.
According to NHBA CLE Director Joanne Hinnendael, the NH Bar chose to offer online CLE through LegalSpan because "they have proven they are responsive, flexible and cost-effective."
"We did our research and LegalSpan affiliates are greatly satisfied with the products they can offer to their members. We also look forward to the variety of seminars from the other affiliates that we’ll be able to provide to our members," said Hinnendael.
"Even more exciting is that with our existing Casemaker functionality, lawyers will eventually have the ability to do instant and free research as they are watching their online CLE seminar. This provides an educational experience way beyond a normal CLE seminar. This is exciting stuff!"
John Davis, president of LegalSpan, said the organization relishes the opportunity to work with the NHBA in offering online CLE enhanced by Casemaker research capabilities. "The possibility of expanding our ‘traditional’ online CLE distribution mechanism to allow research in the Casemaker system has been very exciting for all of us here at LegalSpan," he said. "This exciting possibility is quickly turning into a reality because of the energy and drive of people like Joanne Hinnendael. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to expand the reach of online CLE with partners such as the New Hampshire Bar Association."
NHBA Executive Director Jeannine McCoy said of this exciting new member benefit, "The NHBA is committed to fostering the sense of community that is created when bringing members together for ‘live’ programs in a variety of formats and venues. We also recognize that the ‘online’ option adds convenience and aids our members’ access to high-quality, convenient and relevant programs to enhance their practice."
Updates on the offering of NHBA online CLE will be reported in future issues of Bar News and on www.nhbar.org. In the meantime, any questions regarding this exciting offering should be directed to CLE Director Joanne Hinnendael at (603) 224-6942 or at jhinnendael@nhbar.org.
