Referral Marathons a Success
THE NHBA'S PRO Bono Referral Program ended the year with a bang, conducting three successful year-end referral marathons on Dec. 4, 12 and 19. Twenty-one volunteer Bar members, as well as NH Bar Foundation Executive Director Tina Abramson and Franklin Pierce Law Center Vice Dean Keith Harrison, staffed the phones during the various marathons, referring 103 cases to attorneys across the state - nearly triple the number of referrals made just 10 years ago. "Referral marathons are a showpiece of volunteerism," said Virginia Martin, associate executive director for legal services. "Volunteer lawyers ask their peers to volunteer to take Pro Bono cases. It works, and the clients win thanks to the generosity of New Hampshire Bar members."
The Pro Bono Program would like to thank the following who, by participating in the year-end marathons, help Pro Bono meet its commendable goal of offering no-cost legal assistance to low-income NH residents in need.
