The Pro Bono Program has received national recognition for its efforts--from the ABA’s Brown Award mentioned earlier to Director Ginny Martin’s recognition as 2008 Tanya Neiman Pro Bono Professional of the Year. 

The value of Pro Bono here in New Hampshire to attorneys, low-income clients, the courts, legal services and our communities can be summed up in the story of a young mother and her children facing an unlawful eviction. The Pro Bono staff person – who developed and referred this case (initially screened by LARC) in a last-ditch, day-before-the-hearing request – received a note from the attorney accepting the case with a copy of a Christmas card he received from the client

"One of the rewards of doing work pro bono is that usually the client appreciates the work in a way that a paying client doesn’t," noted the attorney. "I want to pass on the thoughts on this Christmas card that I received from [my Pro Bono client]. The scribbles on the left (of the card) are from her very young children."
