Philip Hollman Gender Equality Award
Sherry Young, co-founder and president of the Rath, Young and Pignatelli law firm, and a well-known environmental and transaction lawyer, has been named the recipient of the 2016 Philip Holman award for Gender Equality. The award will be presented at the Gender Equality Committee's breakfast event at the Midyear Meeting.
The award, established on the occasion of Judge Hollman's retirement from the Superior Court bench in 2003, honors Judge Hollman's efforts as a stalwart advocate for gender equality in the legal system.
A Hollman award recipient is someone who:
- has exhibited dedication to promoting respect and fair treatment toward all members of the judicial system
- seeks to promote gender equality through leadership and educating others on such issues
- has taken the initiative in matters of gender equality and by his/her actions and words has been a role model in this area.
A nominee may be a Bar member, an employee of a law firm or a New Hampshire court, or an employee of a state department or agency that is part of the legal system.
Former Speaker of the NH House and current president and CEO of the New Hampshire Women's Foundation, Terie Norelli will give the keynote address at the NH Bar Association Gender Equality Committee Breakfast at Midyear Meeting.
This popular event celebrates the efforts to achieve equality in the legal profession and the legal system and includes the presentation of the Judge Philip Hollman Equality Award.
Norelli is a former member of the NH House of Representatives serving the Rockingham 16th District and later 26th District. She has also serviced as NH Speaker of the House of Representatives.
