The NH Bar Association (NHBA) is a statewide professional association that supports members of the legal profession and their service to the public and justice system. The NHBA is a unified bar association, meaning that bar association membership is mandatory for all those licensed to practice law in the State of New Hampshire. In addition to providing an array of services and benefits to its members, the NH Bar Association facilitates open and continuing dialogue among lawyers, the courts and other justice system stakeholders while acting as a resource for all those interested in advancing a just society.   NHBA’s Business Operations Department supports all departments and affiliates at the NH Bar Center.  The NH Bar Association also works to increase access to justice in New Hampshire through its Lawyer Referral and Law Related Education programs, as well as through its support of  NHBA’s charitable arm, the NH Bar Foundation.

Working hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm (37.50 hours weekly)

The primary responsibility of the Intake and Referral Specialist is being the “person” behind  NHBA’s Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) call center.  This position takes incoming client calls, qualifies them and then makes appropriate attorney referrals.  Must be able to work in a fast-paced, customer centric environment, both taking incoming calls while returning voicemails throughout the day. At least 66% of time is spent on phone receiving referral requests. There will be additional clerical and other tasks supporting the Full-Fee and Modest Means programs. Additionally, providing administrative support for Free Legal Answers-NH and LawLine programs falls within this  positions responsibility. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.


  1. Answer telephone calls from public; retrieve and respond to voicemails
  2. Review and respond in a timely and helpful manner to e-mails and mail


  1. Ensure that panelists have adequate liability insurance
  2. Assist Coordinator with LRS panel renewal billing
  3. Follow-up on deferred cases
  4. Communicate survey results/feedback as appropriate.


  1. Distribute semi-monthly client surveys; analyze results
  2. Assist in creation of marketing and promotional materials
  3. Attend department and company-wide meetings


  1. Prepare LRS reports
  2. Filing/clerical/proofreading/scanning work as required
  3. Assist with newsletter to LRS panelist attorneys

Fluency in Spanish a plus.
