New Bar Center Site Offers Convenience, Programming Flexibility
The New Hampshire Bar Association will relocate to 2 Pillsbury Street in the South End of Concord (1 mile from exit 12 N on the corner of South Main and Pillsbury Streets) early next month. The Bar will occupy a suite of offices on the third floor of the multi-tenant building, a renovation of the former Blue Cross & Blue Shield headquarters.
To allow for an orderly move and transition, the Bar Center on Pleasant Street will be closed Monday, June 5 to Friday, June 9; with the Bar Association opening at the new location on Monday, June 12. The telephone and individual employees’ e-mail will not be answered during that period; the Web site, Online CLE, e-mail discussion groups (except those few that are moderated), and the NHMCLE Web site will continue to function.
Chief among the benefits of the move for members is that the new building will enhance the Association’s ability to better serve members’ program needs. More NHBA CLE programs will be held at this location, instead of in banquet rooms at area hotels, and there will be a greater capability to hold section and committee meetings, and even non-CLE training programs (on computer technology, for example) or to host guest speakers or other casual gatherings. The conference rooms, along with three small meeting rooms, will also be available by reservation to Bar members at no charge (schedule permitting).
The new facility has a very large parking lot extending more than one city block.
Other features of the new space:
· a gathering space outside the conference rooms to allow members, before and after meetings, to simply converse, and providing a serving space for refreshments and food;
· an expanded resource library for members;
· hassle-free access, off Exit 12 North of Interstate 93, without requiring members to navigate the traffic of downtown Concord.
Sometime after occupancy, a large seminar room (capable of holding up to 100 people, depending on the seating arrangement) will be completed on the ground floor at the Pillsbury Street building. This space, which consists of both Bar-leased space and space shared with the building, will allow the Bar to hold the vast majority of its CLE programs on-site instead of renting space at local hotels.
Details on the impact on Bar Association operations will be updated in the e-Bulletin and at a special page at www.nhbar.org.
Arrangements are being made to pick up mail addressed to Pleasant Street for some weeks after the move to ensure that there is no disruption in mail service; Bar members are encouraged to note the change of address.
