Association is hosting an art show in Portsmouth on July 28.
The show will be held at The Gallery, 100 Market Street, Portsmouth, with a reception from 5:00-7:00 p.m., and will run through Oct. 16.
More than 30 entries were received from artists across New Hampshire, southern Maine and Massachusetts. A variety of mixed media will include fiber textiles, sculpture, watercolor, oil paints, and photography.
The show is presented in collaboration with the Portsmouth Poet Laureate Program. The writing submissions from the Poet Laureate program — interpreting the theme, “What is Home?” will be presented as a show within the art show.
There will be a Best of Show prize of $200 with an honorable mention prize of $50. Submissions will be judged by a panel of artists that consists of the three winners of the Spring Art Show, also sponsored by McLane: Aaron Drew, NH Institute of Art teacher; Kim Ferreira, a Portsmouth gallery owner; and Albina Colden, a curator for a gallery in Rye. Rounding out the jury is Jeanne McCartin, show manager, Michael Simchick, owner of The Gallery, and Jean Hurlbut of McLane.
